The idyllic seaside town of Hornbæk in north-east Denmark which is famous for the relaxing atmosphere around its small harbour, wide sandy beaches and dunes, is the backdrop for Danish designer Ilse Jacobsen’s life and creativity. Inspired by the natural and raw beauty of her surroundings, Ilse Jacobsen sets the ideas for the company ILSE JACOBSEN HORN-BÆK.
Since the company was founded in 1993, the design philosophy has been based on Scandinavian simplicity, embracing comfort, elegance and femininity in fine balance with modern urban living communicating the lifestyle of Ilse Jacobsen.
When living near the water as Ilse Jacobsen does, waterproof footwear is a necessity. Tired of bad smelling PVC rubber boots and raincoats, Ilse Jacobsen wanted to create a stylish, functional and comfortable rainwear collection for outdoor activities in both urban and suburban settings.
After having launched the hand-made rubber boots, the next step was naturally to design a raincoat based on the same thoughts of comfort and functional design as her rubber boots. For more demanding activities, Ilse Jacobsen has designed a soft-shell jacket and coat. These products are made of soft and breathable soft-shell material with water-repellent surface treatment.
